RV Repairs this week

This week we had the opportunity to help several customers.

Rv refrigerator cooling unit replacement.

The first customer had an issue with their norcold n7x refrigerator not working. After some diagnosis it was determined that the cooling unit had a blockage and was no longer working. We ordered a new (not remanufactured) cooling unit from JC Refrigeration in Shipshewana Indiana. It only about 2 hours to remove and replace the cooling unit once the new one arrived. After the new cooling unit was installed the refrigerator started cooling within about an hour or so and I got a text the following morning that the refrigerator was working flawlessly. Another happy customer.

RV outdoor shower replacement.

Another customer, who lived full time in their RV, had an outdoor shower compartment that had succumbed to the Arizona Sun. The plastic had dried out and started to crack so the customer wanted to get it replaced before we had any sort of rain or snow in the area. I was able to order one and get it installed within a week. Another happy customer

Atwood Furnace Control Board replacement .

Their neighbor, who also lived full time in their travel trailer, called us because their atwood rv furnace 8535-IV was not coming on (no blower, no heat) when the thermostat called for heat. The led on the control board indicated low/insufficient air flow which makes sense because there was no airflow whatsoever, the blower fan wouldn't come on. After some diagnosis it was determined that the control board for the furnace had malfunctioned. It was not working properly and not sending 12 volts through the relay to the fan/blower motor. Fortunately this customer had alternative heat sources because I didn't have a control board on hand so I ordered a dinosaur electronics fan 50 plus pins. Dinosaur electronics makes many replacement boards for many different RV appliances. The fan 50 plus pins is a universal igniter board that will work with most Atwood, Dometic and suburban furnaces. We were able to order the new board and have it installed within 3 or 4 days. Another happy customer with a working furnace.

TRUMA AQUAGO repair

We had a customer in Winslow, Az call that was having issues with their Truma AquaGo Instant water heater. Their complaint was that it would blow the 10 amp fuse as soon as it was turned on then it started blowing fuses without turning on the water heater. The customer would put in a fuse and it would blow the fuse as soon as it made contact with the fuse terminals. This is on a brand new 2024 Riverstone 5th wheel. It was clear that there was a direct short to ground somewhere in the circuit for the water heater. After about an hour of searching for the short it was determined to be behind the water heater. This particular water heater had no interior access panel to the backside which made it a little more difficult. Because there was no access panel we had to remove the RV water heater from the outside to get to the 12v wiring. The manufacturer didn't do anything to secure the excess wiring so it had made its way underneath of the water heater. Thing down the road had caused a pinch in the wiring and as a result there was a direct short to ground created between the 12 Volt positive and the case of the water heater. We got it figured out and fixed and another happy customer.

We also took care of a late season RV winterization. Our customer had been storing their RV out in Kingman, Arizona and wanted to bring it home to Flagstaff, AZ.
